Stirling News – Project Paddington is set to bring joy to refugee children

A Stirling-based charity and social enterprise is set to bring joy to refugee children as part of Project Paddington.

Throughout October, Good Green Fun will be collecting teddy bears and soft toys to send to refugee children caught up in the growing humanitarian crisis.

Project Paddington was set up by a group of Sheffield mums as a way for children to help children.

Now, Stirling residents are being called to get involved with the appeal and show that they care.

Lucie Bull at Good Green Fun explains how it works: “Many of you may have heard about the fantastic Project Paddington in recent months. The project was developed in response to the growing humanitarian crisis amongst refugees and its purpose is to send teddy bears to refuge children with notes and photos from UK children, showing that we care.

“It’s all about children supporting children and we’re taking part. Throughout October, we will be collecting teddies for the project and you and your children can help.”

It’s simple to do:

1. Choose a teddy bear to donate (if you don’t have one to donate, GGF can supply one – just ask in-store).

 2. Pop into the shop and pick up a sponsorship form.

3. Ask friends and family to sponsor your bear’s journey to its new owner. All funds raised through sponsorship will be donated to the internationally recognised charity, Tearfund, who are working directly in the refugee camps.

4. Use the special label provided on your form to name the teddy and to write a message of support.

5. Return the bear to GGF. They will laminate the label and attach it to the bear and send it on its journey to a child in great need of its cuddles.

Good Green Fun specialise in recycling and reusing children’s toys, books, prams and much more.

Good Green Funs is open from 9am-5pm, Monday to Friday, and 10am-4pm on Saturdays. Pop in for a sponsor form and full details on how you can get involved with Project Paddington.
